International Panel on Climate Change

Singapore HDB history, photos, statistics, flat types and floor plans

"HDB built in total about 1 million apartments from 1960 onwards, of which about 885000 apartments are today in use. The average apartment size growth continuously to about 95 sqm in 2004, after that is slighly going down.
According Annual Report 2009, 3.02 millions residents lives in HDB apartments, out of 3.7 millions residents, this means 82% (non-residents are not allowed to own HDB apartments but they can live in apartments owned by residents, also they are allowed to own apartments in private condominiums taller than 6 storeys but not landed houses or apartments in low-rise condominiums). This means an average of 3.4 people per apartment and 28 sqm per person. For comparision, in 1968 were in average 6.2 people per apartment (average apartment size around 40 sqm)."

Business School and Teaching Complex / FJMT + Archimedia

"We developed architectural forms that open through a series of organic flowing ribbons in a gesture of invitation, outreach and optimism, gathering the energy of the site into a major new public square. These layered glass and stainless steel planes are carefully composed to orientate and join the forms and internal volumes of the new building to significant landscape elements. The central atrium and internal gathering space is directed out between the two largest ribbons to connect with the natural landscape of the Auckland Domain, the northern figural ‘head’ is turned to look directly towards the Harbour and Rangitoto Island while terminating the axial vista of Wynyard Street." to find out more...
