The Sail @ Marina Bay by Peter Pran NBBJ

"The design concept for this mixed use residential tower is a sculpture that is created by the hands of nature - Sun, Wind and Water. The design exemplifies and defines natural forces with the overall composition created as if it were formed by water passing through the site. The result includes two prominent towers and a sculpted base. A "canyon" is formed separating the base from the tower mass and becomes an important urban space that exposes a lush green environment to inhabit." to find out more...

The Interlace

"Designed by Ole Scheeren, partner of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), The Interlace breaks away from Singapore’s standard typology of isolated, vertical apartment towers and instead explores a dramatically different approach to tropical living: an expansive interconnected network of living and communal spaces integrated with the natural environment. Thirty-one apartment blocks, each six-stories tall and identical in length, are stacked in a hexagonal arrangement to form eight large-scale open and permeable courtyards. The interlocking blocks form a vertical village with cascading sky gardens and both private and public roof terraces." to find out more...

Architectural portals & resources management

More and more architectural portals were established, flourishing the architectural blog sphere, with so much information gathered online, which portals should we go for, for the authorised and correct facts and numbers for various purposes behind each search?
We need management for them, for the information, projects, publications and portals within portals.
As if we were in the Stone Age, resources are so cheap and invaluable. Information now fluctuating the internet, online resources without control and management, is really like a stage of 'time at large'.
I think every country's registered architectural institution has the responsibilities for it, new responsibilities in the new era, new job scope for a good knowledge management, as a 'ligth house' over the intellectual properties and information in the infinite world wide web.
We all now pampered with the new armoury of internet connections that allows information to flow and reach one another easily, without hesitation, we ought to have an authority, for management, monitoring and sustainability required.

Anyway, for your browsing pleasure:-

Dexigner. with introduction of portals available.
E-architect. The site is maintained daily by Adrian and Isabelle who both trained as architects.
Top Design Box. A site that allows you to upload projects.
Nikiomahe. Similarly, archi portals for your browsing pleasure.
Architecturenewsplus. Some more projects for your browsing pleasure.

Sukkah City

" 'Sukkah City' is an international design competition to re-imagine this ancient phenomenon, develop new methods of material practice and parametric design, and propose radical possibilities for traditional design constraints in a contemporary urban site. Twelve finalists were selected by a panel of celebrated architects, designers, and critics to be constructed in a visionary village in Union Square Park from September 19-20, 2010.
One structure will be chosen by New Yorkers to stand and delight throughout the week-long festival of Sukkot as the People's Choice Sukkah of New York City. The process and results of the competition, along with construction documentation and critical essays, will be published in the forthcoming book "Sukkah City: Radically Temporary Architecture for the Next Three Thousand Years."
Selected entries will also be displayed in an exhibit at the Center for Architecture in New York City during September 2010." to find out more...

Cite a Docks Student Housing by Cattani Architects

"The solution was found in a metal frame that acts as a structural support to the old container, while allowing to stagger the units, and create new space for walkways, patios and balconies. “The metal structure – Cattani says – it allows a better identification of the different rooms, and enhances them through the external extensions that become terraces and balconies. The sequences of the transverse corridors giving access to the apartments on the façade create a succession of full and empty spaces that gives the structure a more visual transparency.”" to find out more...
